Disclaimer: We do our best to recommend high quality resources, but are not liable for the content of any of these books, videos, websites, etc. Even if one don't necessarily agree with 100% of what someone says/teaches/thinks, we encourage learning, critical thought & understanding different points of view.
So you want to learn more about the religion and way of life called Islam; perhaps a friend or relative of yours recently converted and you want to get to know their new faith. Maybe you are simply exploring & researching various world faiths, or perhaps you are considering embracing Islam and need to know more before you do.
Well, wherever you're coming from and whatever your intentions, we hope that your search will prove fruitful, and we hope to shed some light on this ancient, yet often misunderstood, worldwide faith.
There is SO much stuff out there, it can be daunting & overwhelming, and you may not know where to start! So as seasoned American converts, we've done our best to curate recommendations on what we find are trustworthy, reliable and useful sources of information, and focus on topics that are most relevant to your search.
If you have any questions or curiosities that are not answered online, feel free to CONTACT US. We are happy to help, whether it be by phone, text, email, or if you just want to meet up locally in the Atlanta area!
Note: You should beware that a great deal of what's found online is not reliable. And Google searches can end up leaving you more lost & confused than ever before!
We recommend avoiding extremists (i.e. Right-wing fundamentalists, as well as extreme Left-wing liberals), angry hot heads and people who debate online and proselytize - even if they are purported to be "scholars", "shaykhs" or "clerics". Best to stick to traditional sources of knowledge & books when possible.
Islam is a way of peace, moderation, and loving mercy; anything other than that is not a true representation of our way.
Videos of regular everyday Muslims on social media do not speak on behalf of our faith; you should understand that those individuals speak ONLY for themselves and do not represent the religion as a whole.
The scholars, books and other stuff we have listed below are people who we deem are well-trained in Islamic sciences, and have reached a level of expertise to faithfully spread a good & truthful message, and present Islam in a way that is TRUE to the Quran and the authentic way & example of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. No one is perfect, but we find they do a great job. And God knows best.
