This is workshop is open to men & women, ages 15+. It is for people who are new to Islam, or those who have Muslim their whole life - anyone seeking a better relationship with Allah's Book & better recitation!
No. It helps if you already know how to read & write Arabic, but it's not necessary. The class will be taught 100% in English.
This program is great for converts/reverts too - whether you're new to Islam or not. Ustadha Alexandra is a licensed Quran teacher & convert as well, so she understands the needs of American Muslims.
Our plan is to livestream & record the session on Tafsir & Reflections, as well as the Group Instruction on Pronunciation.
The first part of our time will be for lectures & discussion, followed by interactive recitation practice. One-on-one tutoring also available with the instructor & teaching assistants. Plenty of time for questions towards the end of our sessions.

Sister Alexandra is a certified Tajwid Instructor & Quran Coach at Madina Institute, the new director of our Ruh Women's Quran programming, and the Team Director of the Square 1 Convert Support.
Sister Alexandra embraced Islam over 25 years ago and is a keen student of the Quran, having studied in Cape Town, South Africa & here in the States. She is certified to teach the sciences of Recitation, in the Riwaya of Hafs 'an 'Asim via the Shatibiyya, by Qari Shaykh Abdullah Deeb of Itqaan Institute.
Her mission & passion is to help make the Quran more accessible & its recitation a lovely & enjoyable experience. Her teaching incorporates different learning tools & teaching techniques, and her Tajwid focus is based on a scientific approach to phonetics & speech therapy. Visit Ustadha Alexandra's Link Page
Ustadh Ryan O'Meallie
Brother Ryan O'Meallie serves as one of the Arabic instructors in the Islamic Studies seminary program at Madina Institute, as well as Assistant Khateeb.
Ustadh Ryan has a degree in Linguistics and is a graduate of the Madina Institute program in Cape Town, South Africa. He studied Arabic under Shaykh Amienollah Abderoaf (South Africa) as well as the 7 Qiraat (Matn al-Shatibiyya) under the late Mufti Mohammed Umer Ismail, may Allah have mercy on him. Ustadh Ryan brings an enlightening perspective to teaching -- as someone who is passionate about language, the Quran, and also as an American Muslim.
